We’re a small staff with big talent and lofty ideals. Our level of craftsmanship is unusual by today’s jewelry-making standards. We hand-fabricate every piece of Kate Maller Jewelry in our Denver studio. No outsourcing, no pre-made components, with the exception of delicate chains, and no casting or computer-generated designs. Every jump ring, clasp, and pair of ear wires is individually crafted in-house. Efficient? No, but hand craftsmanship imbues each piece with a unique character that makes the piece distinctly yours, and keeps us feeling good about our work.
In a world where automation reigns supreme, we celebrate and value the time-honored traditions inherent in the art and craft of hand-fabricated metalsmithing. Because no two pieces are exactly alike, you’ll see subtle nuances in replicated pieces from our collections. Most clients appreciate those nuances and, like us, value the craftsmanship.
Kate designs all of the KMJ collections, OOAK (one of a kind), and custom pieces. She still works in the studio, and behind the bench on a weekly basis. Tess is a rockstar at the bench, she also manages our studio. Jamie brings a high level of craftsmanship, and a love for all things jewelry to our studio team. While our newest studio team member, Cam, comes from a family of artisans and brings a passion for craft, and a love of making that makes him a natural fit at KMJ. Sarah is our studio assistant, and wears many hats to keep the wheels turning! At our Denver store you will find Pamela, Saara, and Christie. In Aspen Iulia, Angela, and Pixie are there to welcome you with a warm smile, and great product knowledge. Melissa Bader is our Director of Retail Sales. After graduating university in Glasgow Saara spent a few years traveling in and around Australia. There she met her American who brought her stateside in 2015.
Her perfect afternoon involves time outside in the sun, working out/teaching a Pilates class, and lots of Scottish chocolate.
Saara loves dainty jewelry; stacking rings, delicate chains and cute studs. She finds working at KMJ great fun, if a little dangerous ;) She currently lives in the Lohi neighborhood of Denver with her husband DJ, and their puppy Cam.

Growing up in northern New Hampshire, in the heart of the White Mountains, and with a family of artisans naturally fostered a passion for creativity, and a love of adventure + wild places in equal measure. Cam graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in metalsmithing and jewelry design. Over the years he has worked with a number of jewelry teams from Vermont, to Massachusetts, and now Colorado.
KMJ's approach to jewelry making, and commitment to sustainable practices fit right in line with Cam's environmental views, and he is proud to be a part of furthering that vision. We are beyond thankful to have Cam's strong skill set, and experience in our studio.
Cam's love of the mountains and outdoors is a big part of what drew him to Colorado. He currently lives in Arvada with his wife, Marion, and their sweet dog Penny, who is also a wonderful and valued team member at our studio.
Sarah was raised in the mountains of Colorado, studied in Massachusetts, and then landed back in Denver in 2011. She has spent much of her adult life growing a career as a Mental Health Therapist. She loves the Colorado sunshine, hot springs, and traveling.
She began metalsmithing as a way to balance the intellectual and emotionally-driven work of the Mental Health profession. From the moment she began taking classes at Boulder Metalsmithing Association she fell in love with the craft and process. A small home studio combined with a global pandemic resulted in a growing skill set, and interest.
Sarah is in constant awe of the dynamic and artful collections created at KMJ, and is thrilled to be involved! She is the self-proclaimed “studio fairy,” and can be found preparing shipments, watering plants, photographing pieces, or working on jewelry at the bench.
