Clients come to us with ideas about jewelry they love yet they haven’t seen exactly the piece they want. If that’s you, a custom experience might be just what you’re looking for. Full-on custom is time consuming, pricey, and not for everyone. For that reason, we offer three levels so you can find what works for you.
Tier One: OOAK/Ready To Ship
Our One Of A Kind (OOAK) pieces are the entry point for a custom KMJ experience. We make one—and only one—of every OOAK piece. I design the ring, bracelet, or necklace you choose, and never replicate it. It’s truly one of a kind—and it’s ready to ship! You’re not caught waiting weeks for me to design and create something I’ve never done. OOAK rings make lovely engagement rings, graduation gifts, or those special occasions when you want to honor someone you love with a gift they’ll love. Tier One is our most efficient + economical approach to One Of A Kind work.
Tier Two: OOAK/Made to Order + Customized
Maybe you love one of our OOAK rings but want to choose a different stone. Perhaps you have a piece of jewelry you no longer wear but would like to repurpose the diamond. Tier Two OOAK/Made to Order + Customized is for you. Here’s how it works:
Bring us your ideas based on another piece we’ve created or a combination of pieces from our current collections. Kate works with you to create a unique piece individualized to you, but based on our previous work (this is an important caveat because it saves design time and keeps the pricing down). We can modify features such as the type of metal, band width, setting style, accent diamonds, or main stone of an existing piece to match your style. Tier Two does not include sketches; the KMJ ring you select serves as a design tool to guide the project and the specifications. We typically meet in person once to select your stone(s) and review the details, or we can also do this over the phone if you are not local to Denver. Tier Two rings generally require 4-6 weeks.
Tier Three: Full-On Custom
Looking to start from scratch? This is the option for you! Kate works with you to design a ring that expresses your individual taste and style. We start the project with an in-person meeting to discuss your ideas and style preferences. We then take that input and sketch several design options, which are sent to you for feedback. They are then fine tuned and, if necessary, we will provide another round of sketches to land on a design you love. That’s step one.
Next up, selecting a unique center stone that fits your style, taste, and budget. We put together options that complement the design you’ve chosen. We meet again, this time to review the stones and make your selection. Then Kate gets to work creating your piece. We typically meet in person 2 times before the ring is finished. Because custom work is time consuming, it’s not the most efficient or economical way to work, but it is certainly a special process perfect for special occasions. Allow 8-12 weeks for a full-on custom ring. Pricing starts at $4,000.
We require a 50% deposit of the projected ring cost to start the project for both Tier Two and Three. The balance is due before shipping or delivery.
